Junior IT Support Engineer – Maternity Cover

The Role
Ambrey are looking to employ an Junior IT Support Engineer inhouse as part of our IT improvements plan, on a 12 month fixed term basis. This is a new role, with on-the-job training provided from the start. Past IT experience is not necessary but desired. You will operate/conduct all tasks and functions to Ambrey’s high standards & procedures. Reporting to the IT Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the day to day running of the IT department
- Provide IT support, guidance and technical assistance to all Ambrey staff, worldwide
- Managing the Helpdesk, ensuring processes are followed, excellent comms, statuses updated
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of devices (EG laptops and mobile phones)
- Participate/advise on upgrades/new equipment/new software to meet the changing needs/demands
- To accurately maintain records & asset management sheets
- Hands on approach to IT infrastructure setup, cabling, device repairs and upgrades
- To assist with writing IT user guides and brief, informative manuals
- Research and testing skills – you will be using the latest cloud-based technologies and platforms which are always being updated and require an ‘on the ball’ mentality
- To aid with scripting and basic development for application deployment and IT processes
- Systems you’ll be mastering: Microsoft M365 Full Cloud Stack Technologies, including Azure Active Directory, Office 365 (inc cloud apps), SharePoint, MS Teams, Intune & Autopilot, OneDrive, D365 Databases (for Sales + Business Central), Windows 10. Additional: Cisco Meraki Networking, SatComm Internet services
Qualifications and skills:
- At least one years previously IT support experience, desirable
- Keen interest in IT, applications, technology and general computing
- Past customer service or people-orientated job experience
- IT Support is about creating, supporting and improving the tools & apps which people use. It’s vital to have good interpersonal skills and a keenness to help others in order to do this effectively.
Terms and conditions
- Salary £21,400 per annum
- Annual Leave: 25 days pa pro rata plus public holidays
- Very occasional out of hours might be requested, with time off in-lieu given. As part of the role there will be an on-call element whereby you will be expected to respond to OOH IT support calls. This is part of a shared rota with other IT staff, and be regularly reviewed. Use of this service is anticipated to be very low
- A probation period of 6 months
