We’re proud to be the only maritime security company in the world which owns and operates its own Transfer Vessels. These vessel based armouries support the provision of armed guard services in the Indian Ocean.
Owning our own vessels gives us complete control over our supply chain, from the vessels themselves to the people and equipment on board. It also allows us to provide consistently high levels of service to our clients. Because we don’t outsource this service, we prevent delays in the transfer of teams and equipment onto your vessels.
Our transfer vessels are licensed by the UK Government to operate as floating armouries, both for Ambrey and for third party PMSCs. The transfer vessels are Djibouti-flagged, which means they are subject to an additional level of oversight from the Djibouti Government for the movement of all weapons on and off the vessels.
The two vessels we own are former Dutch pilot boats built in 1977 and 1978, but both were refitted to improve accommodation, safety and security standards in 2017.
Each of our transfer vessels has two diesel inboard engine tender boats deployed from individual davit cranes. These tender boats are specifically designed for the transferring of teams and equipment to client vessels and their design means they can operate in more aggressive sea states. This hugely reduces the impact of turbulent weather on transferring teams and minimises the chance of delays.
Both our transfer vessels can comfortably house up to 110 guards, and have amenities that make them suitable for both short and medium-term stays including gym, wifi and entertainment.
This includes a Senior Chief Engineer and Marine Superintendent. Both vessels have recently undergone their five-year special surveys, and are insured in the London market.
Our firearms are regularly maintained and checked by our specialist armourer.
Guards and crew embarked on our vessels have access to advice from our on-call company doctor if they are feeling unwell.
